For the past two years, we’ve been hard at work bringing to life our vision for Margaritaville Resort Orlando homes—not just how they would look but how they’ll make you feel. As our first neighborhood takes shape, we’re thrilled with the results: with tropical flair and a social vibe, our resort cottages capture the spirit of Margaritaville perfectly.
When we first imagined these homes, we turned to islands we love for inspiration, hopscotching the sunny shores of the Caribbean, from the breathtaking Bahamas to the tropical idylls of the Virgin Islands. As we started noticing patterns in the local architecture, a picture began to emerge—the key ingredients all add up to living life vibrantly.
As Jim Bagley, Project Developer, explains, “One thing that really excited us in the Bahamas was these great balconies. People were outside, being cordial and open to their neighbors.” As our team visited from island to island, we realized that balconies and porches were at the heart of making neighborhoods not just communal but convivial. “We knew we wanted people outside, enjoying their experiences and meeting their neighbors at the resort,” says Bagley, “so this was a perfect model.”
The good cheer in these communities was elevated by their use of exterior color: vivid pastels that transformed streets into sunsets that never fade. Instead of endless stucco, the houses featured wood siding, the materials of nature making them feel more alive and distinct. Even the rooftops—thatched, tin, metal, or slate—had character.
Our team returned to Florida inspired and with a clear vision. As Bagley explains, “We want neighborhoods, nothing cookie cutter. With so many colors, exterior choices, and layouts, literally no two houses on your street will look alike. Every cottage will be distinct.”
Here are some of the key island-inspired ingredients that we’re mixing and matching so that your cottage feels like your own.
Cottage to cottage, we offer romantic roofing options: evocative synthetic thatch engineered for endurance and aesthetics, corrugated tin that gleams Jamaican-style, or smooth slate that soaks up the sunlight.
We keep things light and breezy with a palette of pastels kicked-up a notch in 50-60 shades of yellow, green, pink, and blue. Vertical and horizontal engineered wooden siding yields an organic feeling, while flourishes like gingerbread trim and louvered shutters personalize the effect.
Outdoor Social Features
Most single home features either a porch, a deck, or a sitting balcony. Front-facing or rear, first floor or second, each has its own charms, and all open you up to the warmth of community. Sit on your second-floor deck nursing your coffee, or wind down the day swapping stories with your neighbors on your front porch.
Open Floor Plans
We think the fewer the walls, the better for socializing. You’ll sleep in a bedroom designed to accommodate a king, and wake to a light-filled open footprint layout with plenty of windows and full glass doors. See the neighbors walking by? Call them in for a drink—you’ve got the space.
We think community is just as vital as individual expression, so these unique cottages are linked by shared green spaces, communal fire pits, and outdoor grills. It’s our way of making sure that Margaritaville Resort Orlando feels like your hometown away from home.
