We know you’re going to have a hard time pulling yourself away from your luxury vacation home, the tiki bar, the waterpark, and the soft sand beach at Margaritaville Resort Orlando. So we put together a quick hit list of things you don’t want to miss while you’re here—just in case you decide to motivate.
1 – Sip Cocktails beneath Hemisphere Dancer
Sip your favorite Margaritaville cocktails in the shade of Jimmy’s very own seaplane? Yes please! Stationed outside the Lone Palm Airport, a stunning tiki bar on the shores of Universal’s CityWalk Lagoon, the Hemisphere Dance provides the perfect backdrop to slow down and relax in style.
2 – Hang 10 at Ron Jons’ Surf School, Walt Disney World
Just a few miles away from Margaritaville Resort Orlando, you can catch the perfect wave at the state-of-the-art wave pool at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. Operated as a partnership with the Ron Jon Surf School, these surf classes are perfect for novices, intermediates, and experts of all ages!
No equipment is required other than swimwear, and prices start from around $165 per guest.
3 – Saturday Night Classic Car Show & Cruise
Every Saturday of the year, a vast collection of classic cars congregates just minutes from Margaritaville Resort Orlando in the Old Town tourism center. The loving care and attention to detail gives you a rare chance to step back in time to the ‘showroom quality’ of yesteryear, but the real thrill is hearing the proud stories of restoration from the dedicated owners.
The exhibits begin to arrive from 1 pm, live music starts at 7 pm, and the cars drive down Old Town’s brick-paved Main Street at 8:30 pm.
4 – Halloween Horror Nights
Universal’s premium Halloween event is the most talked about spot in Orlando’s theme park calendar. At the center of the event are eight, dimly lit, disorientating scare mazes are based upon epic horror flicks and TV shows guaranteed to terrify even the toughest guests. Warning: this is not a child-friendly activity, unless you’d like to be up all night, every night, with them forever.
5 – Launch and Lunch
All aboard! Taking a captain-guided tour of Village Lake at Disney Springs in a vintage Amphicar. These rare cars drive on land and enter the water with a splash for a 20-minute tour you’ll never forget. Follow this up with lunch at the Boathouse and you’ve got an unbeatable day.
6 – Velvet Sessions
We know you already party like a rock star, but now you can party with a rock star! The Velvet Sessions at the Hard Rock Orlando give you the opportunity get up-close-and-personal with some serious talent over cocktails and appetizers. Sessions are hosted once a month in an intimate lounge setting. $33 online, $36 at the door from 6 pm on selected dates.
7 – Dixie Cream Café
Go where the locals go! Escape to the peaceful rural community of Windermere, nestled between the vast network of Butler Chain Lakes just a few miles north of Margaritaville Resort Orlando. A short drive takes you to a quaint ‘homestyle’ bakery and diner offering delicious breakfast, mouthwatering pastries and irresistible lunches from 8 am – 2:30 pm Tuesdays through Sundays.
8 – The Tin Roof
We love a bar with character, don’t you? Number 8 on our top ten things to do near Margaritaville Orlando trades our favorite palm fronds for tin, and we’re ok with that. At the Tin Roof you’ll experience some of the finest mac n’ cheese in the state, live music most nights of the week and bottomless mimosas and bloody’s on Sundays. It’s a party we totally approve of!
A Few Cool Things – Just A little Further Away!
9 – The Crooked Can Brewery
We know LandShark is probably your brewed beverage of choice, but if you INSIST on seeking out other brews, we highly recommend checking out the Crooked Can Brewery, located in the sleepy town of Winter Garden, Fl. Dozens of brews are on tap and sample glasses are available for all. You can even ‘cap a can’ if you want to savor your favorite beer later that day.
10 – Bok Tower Gardens
Who says parrot heads don’t appreciate culture? We don’t! That’s why we know you’ll fall in love with Bok Tower Gardens. Exquisite gardens, stunning architectural gems, and unmissable live performances daily at 1 and 3 p.m. on the 60 bell carillon are just a few of the reasons this makes our top ten list. The gardens are open 365 days a year from 8 am – 6 pm, with last admission at 5 pm. Adults $14, Children $4.
